At 235 MPH, A Bugatti Veyron Sounds Like A Fighter Jet

Go figure, one of the fastest cars in the world actually sounds like a fighter jet when passing by at 235 MPH. Even more stunning is the fact that this is being done on a public road, and it’s all legal. How?

The answer is simple: the Sun Valley Road Rally. This rally is held yearly in Idaho of all places, and it lets drivers duke it out on Highway 75 to see who can achieve the highest top speed. Here is an official description of the event from the organizer’s website:

After a wildly successful debut in 2009, the Sun Valley Road Rally will once again transform Highway 75 into a “no speed limit” zone to benefit The Drug Coalition. Drivers will hurl themselves down the highway in search of their cars’ top speeds, past cheering spectators, all for a good cause. The Sun Valley Road Rally takes place on July 25, 2015 North of Ketchum, Idaho. The event raises money for The Drug Coalition, helping the organization raise awareness about substance use, addiction and recovery among youth. The funds received from the Sun Valley Road Rally provide the resources to bring nationally recognized speakers to the Wood River Valley community, work with schools developing and implementing substance curriculum for youth, and collaborate with stakeholders to improve policies surrounding this important health issue facing the families in Blaine County.

The Bugatti Veyron is no stranger to this event. In fact, many owners bring their Veyrons at the same time to see who’s truly the fastest. At this year’s event, the 1 of 1 Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse L’Or Rouge, nicknamed “Hellbug” by its owner, received lots of attention thanks to its unique red and black color scheme and it’s 235 MPH flyby.

The scary thing is that the Hellbug wasn’t even at its top speed. Bugatti claims that the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse is the fastest roadster in the world and is capable of reaching 255 MPH.

Regardless, feast your eyes on a 100% legal top speed attempt on public roads. Action starts at about the 1:22 mark:

If you close your eyes and listen, you really would think it’s a video of a fighter jet.

Here’s a Veyron Super Sport, nicknamed “Panda”, going even faster at last year’s event . Flybys begin at the :48 mark:

Must. Attend. This. Event. Car of choice? Probably a Koenigsegg One:1 just to stir things up a bit.
